FO: Daybreak Shawl

Finally, it’s finished! The shawl that I knitted in pregnancy, labour, and while recovering from our cesarean:

Many, many, MANY mistakes, but I am so glad I didnt frog it.. what an amazing journey it’s been on.

WIP: Daybreak

My daybreak shawl is coming along slowly but surely, managing a couple of rows each day..

Crappy pic, sorry. All my online time these days is done via my iPhone, as my desk is covered in shite inaccessible at this time.

I have been pondering on wether or not to continue my blog.. Its become difficult to post about anything personal here, as we are headed back into the Family Court next month. But you know, crafting never hurt anyone, and I love having this creative outlet.

This is where about 99% of my energies are currently going.. feeding, sleeping, cleaning, managing the household again bit by bit, and above all, staying healthy. I do NOT want to end up back in hospital a third time!

So off I go, managing a few stitches here and there, stealing a few moments to plan winter hats, and baby cardigans, and to lament my ambitious soaker sizing during pregnancy. At 3 weeks she is in size 00 – making all but one of my soakers unwearable! Ah well, I will pass them onto smaller bubbas..

I am going to put a bag of my undyed/white wool today, ready for skeining, and ready for the dyepot. I havent been able to use my Landscape dyes for 9 months, and Kool Aid/Food Dye just isnt the same!

That’s not totally true, they are all fine, fine, finished objects. Worth waiting for, every second. Things didnt exactly go to plan (but when do they?) but nothing a few weeks of recuperating and resting at home wont fix..

Welcome to the world, Matilda Elise Helen!

Isn’t She Lovely? Yes, yes she is!

Overdue

Dear beautiful friends, wonderful family.

Yes, we know. Things are taking their time. And that’s ok, right? They say the best things take time. Like a good meal.. you know something that has been simmering for hours always tastes better than something microwaved for 2 minutes? Yeah. I pride myself on being a good cook.

But you know, the phonecalls, the SMS’s, the emails, the Facebook posts all asking where the baby is, really isn’t helping. I say that with love – we love you, and want you around us when baby is here and safe, but right now, the pressure is starting to cause cracks! Being asked ‘OMG ARE YOU GOING INTO HOSPITAL SOON?’ also causes issues. It’s pretty hurtful, actually. And pointless.. no one I know is sick – why do I need to visit them? ;)

So I give you this:

Overdue

My baby’s not a library book
so she’s not overdue
My baby don’t take long to cook
coz she’s not veggie stew

My baby’s not an elephant
and I’m not fit to burst
The time and date aren’t relevant
we’re blessed with days, not cursed

My baby can’t read dates as yet
because she’s very new
So there’s no cause to fuss and fret
if she don’t come on cue

So stop your worry,
stop your asking,
There’s no hurry
we’re relaxing
In this golden pregnant time
this pause, which is just hers and mine.
You leave us be
we are just fine

And dont read into the ’she’ – NO, we dont know!

So till we have some real news to share.. sit tight and be patient. BeĀ guaranteedĀ that you will find out! It’s not like we wouldn’t be busting with pride and broadcasting it! You wont be left out! We just need to relax and sit tight in our little bubble, and get ready.
