  1. FO: Maya’s Meret

    March 7, 2012 by sunrisesister

This is a yarn that I scored from a friend’s destash, and it seemed like the perfect red for an autumn beret! Cascade 220 seems like a great workhorse yarn.

As well as this great snappy little project, I went stash diving and made some tawashi scrubbies and a cloth for the kitchen.

    I love crochet!

  2. FO: Birthday Shawl

    February 21, 2012 by sunrisesister

Hopefully, this has reached it’s recipient by now (weather permitting) so I can post a pic or two :)

This yarn is a delightful surprise. Ella Rae Merino Lace will be a repeat purchase! More a light fingering weight, but great for shawls and lace projects. And the colour!

  3. Dyepot: Hine

    February 9, 2012 by sunrisesister

This was a bit of a gamble, but I think it paid off.

One white, plain, but fluffy hand knit.

One pot of steaming vinegary dye infused water..

The first dunk was a little boring. So I grabbed another colour, added a splonk* and re-dipped. The result? Something like a tequila sunrise. Well, almost. I wanted the pink to take more, but it wasn’t to be.

    Some cute buttons to match..

and you have a gorgeous item, ready for Autumn :)

This is a beautiful knit :)

    BWM Cameo 8ply

Step one, take some smooshy wool/angora blend from the BWM back room.

Step two: find a gorgeous, girly, easy pattern like Hine from Kelly Brooker (this was gifted to me at xmas by Deb – thanks Deb!)

Step three, smoosh, admire. But there is more. This will be dip-dyed, blocked, and buttoned. A perfect top to go over a long sleeve cotton tee in the cooler months!

    Sticks: 4mm addi click.

    Yarn: BWM Cameo 8ply

Mods: Knitted size 4, but lace panel to size 5.

More pics to follow when it’s looking a little more colourful!

  5. PSC2011 Complete

    December 8, 2011 by sunrisesister

And with those socks, my Personal Sock Club for 2011 is finished :)

    The stats:

    6 pairs of adult socks

    2 pairs of baby socks

    1 pair of toddler socks

    one pair of mittens

    and a shawl.

2 skeins of yarn were re-homed or given away to allow for a month off (Wedding, november) and another ball that was full of knots, and I had to admit defeat.

All in all, a GREAT stashbusting exercise. I have plans for a similar thing for 2012!
