This is for a very special baby girl…

Pattern is my own. I may write it up at some point!

  2. SD12: Admitting Defeat

    May 4, 2012 by sunrisesister

Ok, I am throwing my hands up and admitting defeat. I am 3 months behind on StashDown12, and I can’t catch up. My spinning time is seriously limited by toddler interference, my own fatigue, and a busy family schedule.

I am, however, knitting TWO things at the same time. As a monogamous knitter, this is both exciting and terrifying.

    A stripe study shawl, and

A chunky cabled vest, both for me!

I have also had some stash enhancement lately… lots of BWM balls and cones!

  3. FO: Rainbow Clap

This was a commission knit for a friend, made from custom-spun rainbow gradient yarn. While the spinning isn’t my handiwork**, the knitting is!

(Please excuse the poor blocking pic, it was a bitch to pin out!)

    (Unblocked)

I used the usual Clapotis pattern, but made it narrower by only doing 4 repeats of the increase section, instead of 6. Length was the key here, to get as much as possible out of the yarn, and to get a full rainbow. It worked!

I was left with this much (not enough for a pattern repeat)

As usual, the pattern got a little repetitive in the middle section, but at least the rainbow yarn kept it interesting!

I used to think colourwork was hard. I put it off for years. Why? Piece of cake! (I may eat those words.)

The green yarn was hand dyed, because all the greens in my stash just didnt fit the bill. Both luxury BWM 10 ply.

  5. FO: Wollmeise, Recycled.

    March 7, 2012 by sunrisesister

Ages and ages ago, I scored this yarn from another friend’s destash (see a pattern forming here?) and I knitted it up into the very popular Nutkins.

    Line up

Only problem is, because of the uneven pattern, the ease is all unbalanced. This means the socks are impossible to put on :( So I frogged it, let the yarn marinade a little longer in the stash, to be reborn.

And here they are! Tadpoles (again) but at least I know that they fit!

I made them a half size (one lace repeat) smaller, so I could gift them to a friend :) I am glad to see them finally knitted up and loved, but whoah, wollmeise does NOT like being frogged and re-knit. Splitty and all hell, and the twist was all over the place.
