  1. Sunday Greenery

    March 27, 2011 by sunrisesister

    Fuschia

Today N and I drove to a few different wedding venues and parks to look for somewhere to hold our wedding later this year. Some of them were a little trecherous because of steep hills etc, but after a couple of hours, we found The One :)

It’s truly stunning, and after some sustinence, and baby’s nap, we went back for a better look.

The wedding diet is going great, why do you ask?

Autumn is also a beautiful time in our own garden. Figs are ripening, maple trees are turning a thousand shades of red and yellow, and these beautiful little flowers greet us near the front door.

    I grow pretty stuff.

Autumn really is my favourite season in Melbourne!

  2. Bindi's Beret

    June 7, 2010 by sunrisesister

    A PURPLE beret for Bindi.

    Clearly, that isn’t her.

I knitted this while in the car over the weekend. LOTS of driving over a long distance, helping friends move up to the hills (where all the cool kids are, of course.)

    Pattern: Tuva Slouchy Beret

Yarn: Heirloom Bliss from the BWM back room.

    Sticks: 4mm Addi Click

    Rav Link.

I am having surgery on my arm soon, so I am going gangbusters with lots of forbidden knitting/crafting before I have a cast/bandages preventing me from doing anything for a couple of months!

  3. Springtime Garden

    October 3, 2009 by sunrisesister

Recent rains have meant that everything is blooming, budding, and GREEN! I just spent an hour mowing the lawn AGAIN, and it’s looking much healthier than it was in February.

I thought I’d share some of the things in our garden with you..
    lemons fig tree
    corner loquats

Lemons on our tree, we have a grafted tree, so we enjoy two varieties every year in abundent supply. This is why I want an ice cream machine! Next, the fig tree waking up; then the corner where the side beds meet the loquat tree; which is fruiting again!

    aloe babies hydrangeas budding
    Oleander that wont die lawn

Aloe vera plant STILL having babies like mad! Last year I gave away 12 plants to friends, but I think this year will need to move her into her own area in the ground. Next, our hydrangea plants starting to bud, and produce amazing white/blue flowers; the oleander plant that wont die! This has been attacked with a chainsaw, doused in petrol, and dug around, and yet WONT die! Poisonous, too! And lastly, our huge lawn!

    lavendar Peaches
Bird of paradise Vegie patch - Before!

Lavender bush – one of many in the front garden. They attract bees and beautiful lorikeets! Great for bird watching, and smell amazing as you brush past them on the way to the car. Next, a teeny tiny peach! A bird of paradise flower peeking over the back fence. And… our very neglected vegie patch. A mess of grass, weeds, and nasturtiums! There are some potatoes hiding in there, so the whole thing needs to be dug over.

And lastly.. my favourite feature of our garden..

    Slutty dog is slutty

How can you resist that? Scratch mah belleh!

  4. Spring Has Sprung

    September 5, 2009 by sunrisesister

How do we know? Because the hills are quite literally alive.. with the sound of wildlife. It’s like the animals and birds are on something!

This charming fellow below is quite the romantic. He woos the lady possums.. VOCALLY, and all night. Meaning we get little sleep when he’s on top form.

Now, if he could just find the right lady.. one that doesnt leave her babies for US to rescue.. *sigh* We have a possum box guys, go get a room!

  5. FO: Mitred Squares

    September 5, 2009 by sunrisesister

Sometimes you need a quick mindless knit. Something you can take in the car/to snb, and not think too hard about. Something to reset your knitting flow. If you have been doing endless rows of a particular stitch *cough herringbone cough* you need a quick pickmeup..

Dishcloths/washcloths are great for this, and are handy as well. This time I decided to try a slightly different method to my usual crochet squares or circles. A mitred square, in two sizes.

    Very satisfying!
