WIP: Fathers Day Socks

I am whipping up a pair of lovely warm socks for my beloved :) His first father’s day as a real DAD (not a step-dad!) I have tried to knit socks for him before, in 4ply Patonyle, but his feet are huuuuuuge, and they never fitted quite right. So I uh.. adopted them. So he’s waited long enough, here is apair tailor-made for HIM!

Pattern: Thuja

Yarn: BWM 10ply Luxury in Black

Sticks: 4.5mm DPN’s

Sewing: Doona Cover

I havent done much sewing of late – getting the machine out, setting it up, threading it, blah blah.. yeah, by the time that happens, the baby’s nap is over, and the window of opportunity is closed. So this was a super-fast project, and finished just in time for baby’s next nap..

We bought her a winter doona (quilt, for you non-aussies) while we were up at the Sheep show from the lovely people at this aussie wool quilt company. But, none of the covers we had for her Ikea quilt fitted. So I dug out an Ikea fabric remnant that I had picked up last year for a few dollars, and whipped one up:

A perfect fit! No cutting required :) Very pleased…

Bendi 2010

We went to Bendigo! A big group of us stayed at the same place as last year, this time taking up 3 houses instead of the 1 and retreat! We were there for the Australian Sheep and Wool Show which was fabulous and even more busy than last year.

So busy, in fact, that I think I took a grand total of about 10 photos :(

However, there was yarn buying! woohoo!

So many great finds, and some lovely surprises. I even got a (very affordable) swift and some blocking wires too. Stoked. I had some great scores in the BWM bargain room, including some 12ply and some undyed cameo which has a touch of lovely fluffy angora.

And we even had a Dagwood Dog for Kelli xx

A super-fast knit.. and I still have MORE of this skein left! a pair of large socks, a beanie, and possibly something else (small) – what great value!

Rib was 4mm, body was 4.5mm, and done in a day and a bit.
