  1. WIP: Rainbow Butt

    October 25, 2009 by sunrisesister

So I’m making another Vanilla soaker, because a) they are superfast (like, an hour’s knitting once you have done one) and b) because my brain is too soaked in pregnancy hormones to do anything more complex. Like lace.

So I just have the leg cuffs to do. Which I did do, yesterday, then looked, and thought ‘There is no way my bubbas thunderthighs will ever fit in there comfortably! So I am going to pick up MORE stitches, and do the rib on the larger needle, with a stretchy bind off.

Do you think I should have chosen a more colourful yarn? This hand dyed Luxury 10ply seems so.. muted. *sniggersnort*

  3. Total, Utter Blowout

    October 21, 2009 by sunrisesister

Every now and again, a bargain comes along that you cant say no to. And it sends you into a little.. well.. frenzy.

I was alerted to the Spotlight sale, where bags of 10 balls of Anchor Magicline were going for just $10. Yup. And this yarn is one of my top three faves of all time. Yup, a simple worsted weight cotton pleases me more than I can say. So off we went, first thing Monday on our way to work.

And we filled the vehicle we were in (a Kluger) full of this. 17 packs.

Now before you get all huffy and get all OMG WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH THAT MUCH YARN YOU SILLY WOMAN, you can just STOP. 5 packs have already left my hands, to go to other people. And the 12 packs left will be shared. Yes. Shared. But it’s cotton. We live in a part of the world where the summer temp reaches Ridiculous Degrees Celsius, so just chill out, ok? It’s more like.. and investment.. Besides, there are actual garment quantities here, not just Dishcloth Amounts.

Ironically, there hasnt been much knitting happening. I have been working pretty much full time, as well as juggling the kids busy lives, as well as trying to schedule as much STUFF to get done within the next few weeks. We are running out of time, and the car needs to be modified, serviced, as well as stuff around the house prepared for it’s new inhabitant!

I think I will cast something on that I can knit when tired (NOT 2ply lace) – perhaps a nice cotton number. Wonder if I have anything that would suit…. ahem

  4. Bushells Replies

    October 21, 2009 by sunrisesister

    Dear Mrs Betts

Thank you for contacting us about  Bushells Extra Strong Teabags.

What an absolute delight to read your email!

We’re thrilled you love our Bushells Tea.  We’re quite proud of it ourselves and enjoy a good cuppa in the morning too.

With 3 kids in tow and 8 months pregnant, we can fully appreciate you want to limit the trips to the supermarket.  I need a cuppa just thinking about the ordeal!

Charlotte, we would love to maintain your love for Bushells and to save you another trip to the supermarket, let us know your address and we would quite happily send you out a couple of boxes of your favourite brew (are the rounds ok?).  Hopefully this will see you through the birth of your new bub and perhaps even through those initial sleepless nights!

We’re sorry you came across the mishap in quality.  As I’m sure you appreciate, it’s very rare to come across quality of this standard in the Bushells range however, despite the quality control procedures we have in place, some can slip through the cracks.  We’re sorry you found one of these.  Great that you’ve let us know though, we’ll send that information off to our Quality Assurance Team so they are made of aware of the incident.  It would be greatly appreciated if you still have the batch number?  That way we can track the actual batch and make sure it was just a one off occurance.

Keeping our consumers happy and offering you even a moment of quiet contentment in your busy day is what’s important to us so thank you again for letting us know this happened. You’re right – we’re not talking a laptop here however to us, it’s just as important.

Yours in relaxing moments, delightful infusions… and good humour,

    Becky Wood
    Consumer Relations Consultant.

  5. Destash to Destash

    October 19, 2009 by sunrisesister

So, my Collingwood Magpies OBSESSED friend, Andrea (yes Andrea, admit it, the Magpies doorbell gives you away!) had a little destash at the weekend. And by little, I mean we swooped like vultures onto her stash and grabbed some goodies!

Top: Some BWM Allegro (cant resist BWM!) and some yarn bee cotton stuff

Middle: some kind of beautiful squishy alpaca, and 2 balls of Biggan merino (ooer mister, would you like to feel me biggans?)

And 3 balls of some spunky pink wool she got from the 2008 wool show..

Yes, yes, I know, that yarn diet. Well we should talk about that, we really should. But in my defence (again) I shall say that this was a BARTER, and my diet still stands. Right? Riiiiiiight?
