  1. Plans Afoot

    Summer Fruit 50gm 4ply Gothic - 100gm Cashmerino Sock Yarn Citrus Splash 2 x 100gm Cashmerino Colourgasm 4ply Flower Garden 50gm

So I have been plotting big things.. I have been wanting to sell yarn, fibre and supplies on my website on a more regular basis for a while. But lots of research has been needed – suppliers, costings, demand, availability of certain fibres as well as feasibility of time investment etc.

But it’s happening! Very soon I will be expanding this site to include an online store, and I will be stocking a regular line of products, and adding one update per month. This is realistic for me, at the moment, but may be increased down the road.

  2. FO’s of 2010

    December 18, 2010 by sunrisesister

Well, the year is almost over, and it’s time to see what I made over the last 12 months!

    Mosaic

Looking at that, it doesn’t seem like much, but there are lots of big projects in there, like the Daybreak shawl, and my Kauni scarf. Lots of baby hats, and lots of cardigans! Bear in mind, I did have a baby in January, and lots of health issues this year, so that did eat into my knitting time!

I also got to sew some simple but very enjoyable things..

A doona cover for Tille, and a Marimekko sleeve for my iPad!

I released my first ever (free!) knitting pattern, and watched it be ‘favourited’ and knitted up by Ravelers :)

And 2010 saw a very happy return to the spinning wheel. I am in love. My fibre stash is growing, slowly, and I am saving up for a Majacraft wheel in the new year! Oh yes!

It’s been a great year, in creating and enjoying all things fibrey. Here is to lots more fun in 2011!

  3. Bendi 2010

    July 21, 2010 by sunrisesister

We went to Bendigo! A big group of us stayed at the same place as last year, this time taking up 3 houses instead of the 1 and retreat! We were there for the Australian Sheep and Wool Show which was fabulous and even more busy than last year.

So busy, in fact, that I think I took a grand total of about 10 photos :(

However, there was yarn buying! woohoo!

So many great finds, and some lovely surprises. I even got a (very affordable) swift and some blocking wires too. Stoked. I had some great scores in the BWM bargain room, including some 12ply and some undyed cameo which has a touch of lovely fluffy angora.

And we even had a Dagwood Dog for Kelli xx

  4. Socks and Shops

I love this yarn more and more as I knit it..

Yesterday I did a little blog housekeeping; I tidied some code, updated some ancient plugins, and added a cart! Yep, some lovely hand dyed yarny goodness up there, so check it out :) More will be added today, in thicker weights.

    Available at the moment:

Variegated Pink - Cashmere Merino Citrus Splash
Gothic - 100gm Cashmerino Sock Yarn Flower Garden 50gm
    Summer Fruit 50gm 4ply 2 x 100gm Cashmerino Colourgasm 4ply
    2 x 100gm Cashmerino Colourgasm 4ply Neil’s Choc Raspberry

Yesterday was also a day for baking. My youngest loves cupcakes (who doesn’t?) so she whipped up these berry and white chocolate cupcakes with a little help.

Delicious, and very fruity! This is how it’s done:

1 packet of vanilla/butter cake mix, made to instructions. Yes, I cheated. But heck.
    some white chocolate drops
and some frozen mixed berries (we usually have a bag of boyseberries/blueberries/raspberries in the freezer for topping yogurt)

Bake. TADAAAA! Cool for as long as you can bear it, and eat with a cup of GOOD tea. Bliss.

I am seriously considering buying a cheap ice cream/gelati machine this summer. We have an abundance of home grown lemons, figs, and local fruit that would make for some delicious cooling treats. We have a deep freezer running, so why not? We spend a small fortune on icey poles every year, which sadly tend to be full of nasty colours etc. Hmm… some thinking to be done..

Today I am going to catch up on some yarn photos.. see you then!

  5. No Blogging Pour Moi

    June 27, 2009 by sunrisesister

Totally unable to blog. Our optus cable connection is busted, and we are on a crippling 2kb speed up and down. If it isn’t fixed in the next 2 days, we’ll be signing up with a new providor. But in the meantime, I’m having to do everything via my iPhone on 3G!

Oh and optus, you have 2 days to wow me. We have no contract anymore. We’ll take our mobile and cable elsewhere. ADSL1 is still faster than 2kb. We might live in the sticks, but we still deserve Internet access!
