  1. FO: PSC2011 August Tropical Tingle

    September 12, 2011 by sunrisesister

I have to confess, I lost momentum for this in August, and fell behind. But here we are, back up to date!

    Rainbow socks for a boy.

Yes, these are kids socks, and they are going to my friends son, who requested some loud socks. But what I *did* finally tackle is 2 socks on one circular needle! And guess what! The world didnt implode!

It was surprisingly fast – magic loop is so much quicker, and working two socks at a time means no Second Sock Syndrome! I will be doing this from now on.

    It’s RAINING BABBYS

I whipped these up for newborn gifts, using a brilliant little pattern called Malibu Beanie, by Amy Miller. I used oddments of Sublime baby cashmerino silk DK, and BWM Melody. Perfect!

This was a very enjoyable knit! I will get some decent pics when it’s worn at the wedding very soon ;)

    Weird shape, but still pretty.

My first blocking attempt. The shape was just not right (I knitted the smallest size, but added extra lace repeats) – thankfully my friend Lucy is a blocking pro, and rescued it!

    Lucy fixed it :)

Much better! The red is hard to photograph, as it’s a wonderful deep rich red.

Pattern: Traveling Woman by Liz Abinante

Yarn: Colinette Jitterbug, in Vatican Pie

    Sticks: 4, 4.5mm

  5. FO: Spin, Little Speckled Hen

This braid seemed to go on FOR EVAR.

But it turns out, that’s because I cannot read, or count, and it was actually 150 grams, not 100! It was a club shipment that I scored in a destash.

So I had managed to spin it very fine, and decided even navajo plying it would give me a decent amount. I was right.

Whoah. But look at the colours!

My spinning has improved even more, and I am seeing that my plying is also coming along nicely. I dont over-spin as much, and the results are smooshy yarn :)

    Fabulous :)
