Bendigo Sheep Show 2009

July 20, 2009 by sunrisesister

Wow. Just wow!

What a great weekend!

I met a tonne of Ravellers in person, saw some adorable sheep, walked and walked and walked and walked.

Oh and I shopped!

MY HAUL!

In my defence, some of it was from the mill, and those packets were $20 each from Pear Tree Yarns. But I will totally own up to the rest.

I also bought some beautiful wooden shawl/scarf pins

Spinning woodie shawl/scarf pins!

The Rocketeers all travelled up and stayed in a cottage together, which of course involved MUCH merriment and silliness! A wonderful weekend, and I cant wait to do it again. Even if I am totally exhausted!

So, let’s get down to business:

The cottage and the view. To be honest, I took bugger-all photos, because, well. I was having too much fun.

O…kay. Of course, this show *was* about the agriculture, which is easy to forget when you are drooling over things like this:

Now, I dont have many photos, but there are many who do. Like Kat!

So what did I buy? Well, I bought yarn, wooden pins, jam, soap, woolly socks for gifts back home, and a woollen pillow. I have ALWAYS wanted one, and nearly cried with joy when the seller said they were just $20. Of COURSE i got one, and will probably order one of their amazing wool blankets soon.

But now, for the yarn fumes to overwhelm you:

Donyale Habu Sock Donyale Habu Sock
Donyale Poipool Baby Alpaca sock Donyale Poipool Baby Alpaca sock

Donyale’s amazing sock yarn in ‘Habu,’ and some baby alpaca in ‘poipool’ – this is softer than anything else. Im just stoked that I got to give Donyale a hug! :)

Moseley Park 10 Ply Moseley Park 10 Ply

Two hanks of Moseley Park 10ply superwash (no felting!) yarn. These will be longies, can you see I am prepared for either gender? The ladies at this stall were *lovely* and picking out these two skeins involved lots of chatting and laughter.

2 Skeins of truly pschedelic sock yarn from Ewe Give Me The Knits! Meeting Mandie in person was awesome. she is one passionate fibreholic enabler!

ms.gusset sock

3 Skeins from ms.gusset – aka Kylie! This was one big mountain of colourful sock yarn, I couldnt resist!

Touch Yarns Sock

This was actually the virginal purchase! From a craft store in Kyneton, on the way up. Touch Yarns from NZ, 4ply. I had to get this – it’s the EXACT same colourway as my Maya Wrap. (sling)

BWM Machine Wash 8ply BWM Machine Wash 8ply
BWM Classic 12 ply BWM Classic 12 ply

From the Mill – a packet of 8ply superwash ($2.50 a ball!) and some 12ply. All from the backroom, and cheap as chips. The 12ply is destined for soakers and longies, and I’ve already CO another Vanilla!

Pear Tree 12ply Pear Tree 12ply Pear Tree 12ply

I scored THREE of the $20 packs from Pear Tree Yarns. This is good, because their regular skeins are pricey. All 12ply, and lovely and soft.

All in all, an amazing weekend. I came home to a clean house, and I dont think N has ever been so happy to see me!

Next year we might go up for the day, as bub will be around 7 months old. But then again, I could bring bub and pass it over to Kelli. I know she wont object!

Haha, great minds obviously think alike, because I took the EXACT same photo of that sign…
