  1. Australian Homebirth In Crisis

    June 29, 2009 by sunrisesister

In case you havent heard, Homebirth in Australia is in crisis. It is under threat from it’s own lawmakers. Nicola Roxon has presented a bill to the senate, effectively making homebirth ILLEGAL from next year.

I cant say it any better than these ladies, so please follow these links:

Clare Bowditch (yes, the singer) wrote an amazing open letter that sums it all up.

Lisa Barrett, a homebirthing midwife in South Australia, makes her own plea for homebirth.

Home Birth Australia provides more information here, and a petition. Please sign it, and urge others to also.

Cas McCullough says a sad farewell to our autonomy, folklore and stories.

And if you havent seen it already, please watch The Business of Being Born.

Of course, facebook, parenting sites, midwives, mothers, parents to be, and many others are all talking about it. How a basic human right is being taken away from us, and our babies, and daughters.

Please, Nicola Roxon, please rethink this. Dont make my baby’s HOME BIRTH this summer a DANGEROUS and ILLEGAL act!

It’s FINALLY done! Boy oh boy, did that get tedious towards the end! But I was determined to get it done, even though I was starting to think ‘ew, this wont suit me, who can I gift it to?’ but TOUGH, I love it :)

And a sad tribute to the king of pop. Yes, I loved Michael Jackson, he lived in my cassette tape Walkman, and made us boogie accross decades. Despite his weirdness, the man knew how to write a goddamn good song. And he wasnt afraid of the Loafer shoe.

  4. No Blogging Pour Moi

Totally unable to blog. Our optus cable connection is busted, and we are on a crippling 2kb speed up and down. If it isn’t fixed in the next 2 days, we’ll be signing up with a new providor. But in the meantime, I’m having to do everything via my iPhone on 3G!

Oh and optus, you have 2 days to wow me. We have no contract anymore. We’ll take our mobile and cable elsewhere. ADSL1 is still faster than 2kb. We might live in the sticks, but we still deserve Internet access!
